RACHEL DRUMMOND
Owner/Director:
Rachel began dancing at the age of four. She started competing regionally and nationally at the age of 12, traveling around the United States receiving top awards. Graduate of William Chrisman High School, she was part of the Beartrackers dance team for four years and captain as two. She received many awards such as: NCA All-American for two years, UDA All-Star and Best Leaps and Turns. 

Rachel received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Missouri at Kansas City with an emphasis in Ballet and Modern. She was on a cheerleading scholarship for the Roos at UMKC. Rachel has taught dance for 13 years. She is a member of Dance Masters of America Chapter 28. Rachel has completed year two of Teachers Training School and is a National Certified Examiner. She worked under the direction of Christine Palmer for many years and bought the dance studio in July of 2006 and renamed it Releve’ Performing Arts.

Rachel truly loves the art of dance and teaching. She thanks her students for daily inspiration and her family for the dedication to help keep her dance dream alive.
 

SHANDI MILLER
Instructor: 

Shandi began her dance education at the age of two. She has studied tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, clogging, musical theater, acrobats, improvisation, yoga and modern. Shandi has won numerous awards including Footloose Junior and Senior Dance Champion, many top overall awards and interpretive awards. Shandi’s dancing has taken her international, dancing on a cruise ship through Mexico.

Shandi is a Grain Valley High School graduate where she was a varsity cheerleader all four years and first place state champions. She has received many dance scholarships, college and convention master classes. Her choreography has been recognized numerous times as a student and now a teacher, winning many first place awards and top overalls at competition.

Shandi has danced in “the Magic Of Christmas” with the Kansas City Symphony from 2002-2005. She performed as a soloist in the Christmas showcase. Shandi is now a four year member of Kacico Dance Company. She has performed in Los Angeles, California in the annual LADI Dance Festival. She has also traveled to perform with the Fort Worth Dance Company in Texas. This season Shandi was selected as a soloist to perform, “Stifling” by choreographer Peter Kaulivas from San Diego, California. 

KENDRA HUTSELL
Instructor:
Kendra began dancing at the age of four. She started competing at the age of five with her first National Dance Competition in Las Vegas. She danced at the studio until 2007 when she graduated from William Chrisman High School. She was a member of the Beartrackers Dance 
Team 2 years and captain her senior year. She received the UDA All-Star Award and had the honor of being asked to become a UDA staff member around the United States.

Kendra began teaching at the age of 15 and has been instructing dance for four years. She is currently teaching the Tiny Tots program and working with the Encore Dancers competitive program. Kendra has finished her first year at Blue River Community College working on her Associate of Arts Degree. She plans to continue her education to become a Child Life Specialist. Kendra has a vast knowledge for dance and is an asset to the Releve’ staff.

AMANDA HORD
Instructor:
Amanda began her dance adventure at the age of eight. Her education consisted of multiple disciplines of dance such as jazz, hip-hop, tap, ballet. Pointe and modern dance. Advancing from one level to another she reached her ultimate goal of “Senior Dance Troup” at the age of thirteen. Competing Amanda scored numerous high overall awards locally and nationally. In 2005, Amanda was a finalist for “Termaines” convention/competition for Dancer of the Year. Traveling around the country, she performed in Texas, Branson, Tennessee and Disney World. Pursuing education in dance, she has traveled to many conventions taking instruction from world-known choreographers such as Doug Caldwell, Laurie Johnson and Liz Imperio. 

Driven to continue her dance career Amanda performed in the Bahamas on the Royal Caribbean Cruise ship “Sovereign of the Seas.” Amanda has traveled to New York City to take instruction at Broadway Dance Center and numerous studios in the New York City area.

Amanda graduated from Oak Grove High School with an acceptance to the University of Central Missouri State’s Harmon Business College with dreams of one day owning her own studio. Amanda truly appreciates the opportunity to teach at such a great studio with so many talented dancers! She thanks the studio and the families for supporting her through her first year of teaching at Releve’ Performing Arts!

BJ COX
Instructor:
BJ COX has given instruction in hip-hop, jazz, lyrical and contemporary dance. BJ has taught many energetic classes at Releve’. He has danced around the KC area at local competitions and nationally, winning many awards. BJ auditioned for the hit TV show “So You Think You Can Dance” making it to the final cut audition in Las Vegas. He is currently fulfilling his dance career by auditioning and dancing in North Hollywood where he now resides. He is on tour with Adrenaline, convention and competition. You may have recently seen him in the Raven Simone music video “Double Dutch Bus”. 

BJ comes back to Kansas City as much as he can to teach dancers here at Releve’. He has been greatly missed after the first of the year and comes back to teach classes whenever he is back in KC. .
